MooverApp

A Free Site for Educational Projects

Most businesses that come to us have the opposite problem to a school. They have a budget and a deadline, and they are still deciding what to say. An educational project usually knows exactly what it wants to say — often after years of saying it, in classrooms, on tours, in printed guides — and has no developer, no design budget and no appetite for a hosting bill.

That asymmetry is the whole reason this programme exists. MooverApp is free, permanently, for non-commercial educational projects. Not a trial, not a discount, not a stripped-down tier: the full platform, on the same infrastructure our paying customers run on, for as long as the project is alive.

What the programme gives you

  • The entire platform. Pages, a blog, a media library, menus, contact forms, themes and the editor that drives them. Nothing is fenced off behind a paid plan.
  • Your own domain. Point your address at the site and we issue and renew the certificate for it.
  • Every language you work in. Each language is its own version of the site, with its own addresses, its own menu and its own translated text — and search engines are told, properly, that they are the same page in different languages.
  • Findable, readable, accessible. Sitemaps, canonical links, structured data, RSS feeds and share cards are generated for you. Pages are built to WCAG 2.1 AA and checked against it, so a screen reader gets the same content a browser does — and so do the AI assistants people increasingly ask instead of searching.
  • Hosting, backups and updates. Ours. There is no server for you to patch and no invoice at the end of the month.

Who it is for

  • Schools, universities and individual teachers publishing course material.
  • Museums, libraries and archives putting a collection where people can read it.
  • Non-profits whose mission is education or public understanding.
  • Independent and volunteer projects — science writing, local history, nature and conservation — run by people rather than institutions.

The line we draw is commercial, not institutional. If the point of the site is to sell a course or advertise a paid service, it is an ordinary MooverApp site and very welcome as one. If it exists to teach somebody something, and nobody is charged for it, it belongs here.

What we ask in return

Two small things, and neither of them is money. Keep the “Made on moover.app” line in the footer — that credit is how the next project finds us. And tell us when you launch: we read what gets built on the platform, and we say so publicly when it is good.

How to apply

There is no application form and no committee. Write to us and cover four things:

  1. Who you are, and what the project is.
  2. What the site has to do — pages, articles, a collection, a course.
  3. Which languages it has to exist in.
  4. The address you want it on, if you already have one.

We answer every message within a few working days. If it fits, we set the site up and hand you the keys — with your first pages already in place, if you send us the text with the application.

We build on this ourselves

Animal Book is ours: nine sites, one animal each, seven languages apiece, written to be read rather than skimmed. It runs on exactly the platform described above, with no privileges of any kind — the same tenant, the same editor, the same free plan this programme hands out. If you want to see what an educational project on MooverApp looks like before you write to us, start there.
